The Sleepyhead Deluxe has rapidly become my favourite baby product. Those first moments you have with your newborn are amazing, the moment the doctors pass him/her to you and you see what they look like, those precious first few days where you sit staring at the wonderful bundle you've just brought into the world. For me it was different, Oscar's premature birth left me feeling cheated. I had to be put to sleep for his delivery and when I woke up hours later, he was in Intensive Care. A unit that had such strict visiting hours, meaning I wasn't able to see him until the next lunch time. I lay there devastated, I had a baby, but felt as though I didn't, everyone around me had their baby and I didn't even know what mine looked like.
I had this desperate feeling of needing to have him close to me all of the time, I fantasised about the moment we'd be able to take him home and what it would be like. We hadn't yet bought a moses basket or crib for him so I decided to purchase the Sleepyhead Deluxe. A product that would enable me to have him close to me at night, whilst staying safe.
The Sleepyhead Deluxe Pod is a portable bed with a soft bumper around the outside, it provides your baby with a sense of security while he/she sleeps making them feel snug and secure, as if they're still in the womb or being held. It is made from breathable and hypoallergenic material which can be washed as it comes with a removable cover. You can also buy coloured covers if you want to protect the white/want something a bit more snazzy.
The Sleepyhead is really light and easy to move around, which means you don't have to worry about staying somewhere without a cot (something that makes our lives much easier as we have to travel a lot). It is multifunctional and can also be used for tummy time and nappy changing. The Sleepyhead Deluxe is designed to fit your baby until they're 8 months and has clips at the bottom allowing you to extend the length should you need to. Despite being premature Oscar is long, so I'm already looking into purchasing the Grand, which is designed to fit up to 36 months.
We sleep with the Sleepyhead between us, we have a standard double bed and there is still enough space for us either side. I love being able to co-sleep safely but when the time comes for Oscar to move into his room we will put the Sleepyhead into his cot.
It is one of the more expensive baby products retailing at £110, but I would absolutely recommend it to anyone considering it. The Sleepyhead really has been the best purchase we have made, our most used product and it continues to meet and exceed my expectations. Oscar sleeps brilliantly in it and we love that no matter where we have him, at home or visiting relatives/friends he still has his bed and the sense of security and routine.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Sleepyhead, did it last you until 8 months? Have you purchased the Grand?
Pwurs absolutely lasted til 8 months and Henry is a little above average in size! We absolutely adored it and is top of my recommended baby bits!
