Baby items are some of the most exciting things to purchase - for me anyway. Whether I'm buying for my own baby or as a gift, I'm always on the look out for something a little different, something that I'm not going to give that the recipient will receive 3 of. If there is one thing I have learned recently it's that a lot of baby clothes go to waste and it's such a shame.
We were given so many lovely outfits when Oscar was born but due to his prematurity his sizing is completely out of sync, which unfortunately means most of it will be wasted. When I was pregnant I bought some summer outfits for him, Emelia was always in the next size a week or so early, and as we were told at every scan Oscar would be a big baby, I had no reason to believe he would be any different. But here we are, the week before Oscar turns 3 months old and he is still in his newborn clothes, a long way from fitting into his 0-3 months sleepsuits and outfits.
I realise people don't always like to buy sleepsuits as gifts, maybe it's deemed as 'obvious' or 'boring' to some, but I have to disagree. Firstly, how often do babies have an explosion in the nappy department resulting in a change of clothes (all too often if you ask me)?! Secondly, sleepsuits are unlikely to go to waste, babies always need them, whether you're like me and keep your baby in them for the majority of the time or just use them for bedtime, regardless of the season they are always useful, and bound to fit at some point. I love seeing little babies in sleepsuits, I think it suits them, its comfortable for them, warm and they're easy to change if and when required.
Looking at the clothes we have wasted I thought of all the other families in a similar position, which led me to think about gifts for newborns, how everyone loves to buy for a baby but how can we purchase lovely, practical items of clothing without running the risk of it not being used. My answer... Molly & Monty.
For those of you who are not familiar with Molly & Monty (where have you been hiding?!), they are a family run brand who create beautiful organic baby clothes, all made in the U.K. A brand that I have loved for a long time so when I was given the opportunity to work with them and try out their latest design I felt honoured and absolutely over the moon. The quality of the products are amazing and the print designs last wash, after wash, after wash.
I was so excited when the box arrived and completely overwhelmed with the care that had gone in to the packaging and presentation of the gift box, ensuring the items arrived in pristine condition. The quality of each and every item is second to none, and unbelievably soft before you've even washed it.
So what's in the box?
We were fortunate enough to be sent one of each item featuring the new grey star design to try, a sleepsuit, bodysuit, bib, beanie and blanket. Items that most parents would without doubt use for their baby at some point. I was thrilled when I opened it, anyone who know's me and knew me when I was pregnant and buying for Oscar, is fully aware 90% of what I bought was grey and white.
Each item is fantastic in it's own right and would make a lovely gift, collectively or individually. Made from organic cotton without any chemicals or pesticides, the price of each item is slightly higher than some leading brands (although, equal to or even cheaper than some I've come across). However, I believe the quality to be much superior and doesn't deteriorate after washes or wears.
For me, aside from the fact they're made from lovely material, it's the design and attention to detail that stands out. Purchasing from Molly & Monty makes me feel as though I'm getting a unique and rather special product, something worth spending the extra money on. The label is carefully positioned on each item, giving it a luxurious look and feel. The print designs are beautifully understated and simple, they have an extremely sophisticated look, one you'd expect to see from a high end designer brand.
If you are looking for a unique present or a special something for your new baby, I'd highly recommend checking out the Molly & Monty website. There's a range of beautiful designs to choose from, which you can purchase as a set, or individually. You're also able to purchase one of their lovely gift boxes, so if your budget doesn't quite meet the price of the ready made sets, you can easily create your own and give someone a really beautiful gift.
Disclaimer: We were kindly gifted these items by Molly & Monty but as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.
